Texture Like Sun
NOW AVAILABLE: The self-titled EP was recorded across Darwin and Melbourne’s Bounce County Studios, produced by award winning Pip Norman (Countbounce – TZU, Sparkadia, Ash Grunwald) and mixed by Dan Rejmer – a man who counts Bjork, Foals and Paul Kelly among his working credits. While the six piece’s sound couldn’t be further away from anything they’ve done before, their cohesive approach remains apparent; evident through the effortless guild that bridges each of the songs on the EP. The earthy vocals may draw ghostly parallels to Jeff Buckley and Scott Matthews, while there’s a certain zealousness that sees the band paint their folk and roots stylings through accounts of both brighter times and others of fragile refrain.
Texture Like Sun have toured and played with artists such as Local Natives, Bettye Lavette, Allen Stone and many more.
‘Bottle’ – Lyrics HERE
5/5: “world class – very listenable – whata voice, natural but warm” - Rosie Beaton, triple j
4/5: “The mix of indie folk and Count Bounce’s production is a real winner for me. Plus that voice! A completely beguiling number.” - Dom Alessio, triple j
“Texture Like Sun were nothing short of sublime, proving moody and moving, without traipsing too far into overblown, melodramatic territory. Not even the distinct lack of variety in their set could truly detract from the quality of the set” – FasterLouder
“Mark Pearl’s vocals are heartbreaking in the best way and bare more than a passing resemblance to the late, great Jeff Buckley. Texture Like Sun manages to make their blues-tinged folk sound creep into every corner of the small room and consume the audience from the inside out… Nothing about Texture Like Sun comes close to ordinary and their set is near perfection….” - Tone Deaf
